Learning Designed Around Legal Practice, Not Away From It

Praxis Hall was started by practitioners who found that existing continuing education rarely spoke to the realities of how legal work actually happens day to day.

Our Story

How Praxis Hall Came Together

Praxis Hall opened its doors in 2019 in response to a gap that a small group of Singapore-based legal practitioners kept running into: the continuing education options available to them were either too broad to be useful or too tightly tied to formal qualification pathways to fit into a working week.

The founding team — a mix of in-house counsel, former private-practice solicitors and legal operations professionals — spent the better part of a year mapping out what a genuinely useful professional development catalogue would look like for the legal sector. The result was a course structure built around practical skills, written exercises and structured peer discussion rather than lectures and examinations.

Since then, the catalogue has grown to cover areas including legal writing, knowledge management, regulatory horizon-scanning, plain-language drafting, internal training design and operational reporting for legal departments. New courses are added quarterly, informed by feedback from the member community and developments in practice.

Praxis Hall is registered in Singapore and operates as an independent continuing education provider. We do not offer formal qualifications, hold professional licensing authority or provide legal advice. Our work is educational, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Mission

What We Are Here To Do

To make structured, practitioner-relevant learning accessible to legal professionals throughout Singapore, at a pace and format that respects the demands of their work.

Values

What Shapes Our Decisions

  • Practical relevance — every module must apply to real work contexts
  • Honest framing — we describe what courses cover and what they do not
  • Respect for time — learning that fits into a working week, not around it
  • Community over competition — peer exchange is as valuable as lecture content

How We Work

Our Standards for Course Development

Every course published under the Praxis Hall catalogue goes through a consistent development and review process before it opens to enrolments.

Practitioner-Developed Content

Course materials are developed by professionals with direct experience of the subject matter in Singapore or comparable common-law practice environments.

Editorial Review Before Publication

Each course goes through a structured review for accuracy, practical applicability and appropriate framing before it is added to the catalogue.

Quarterly Catalogue Refresh

We review the full catalogue every quarter and update or replace courses that no longer reflect current practice standards or regulatory context.

Data Privacy Compliance

Member data is handled in line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act. We do not share member information with third parties without explicit consent.

Participant Feedback Loops

Every course includes a post-completion feedback mechanism. We read every response and incorporate recurring themes into the next development cycle.

Clear Scope Statements

Each course description includes an explicit scope statement noting what the course covers, the level it assumes and what it does not address — so enrolment decisions are well informed.

Expertise & Approach

Professional Development That Respects Practitioners

Legal professionals in Singapore operate within one of the region's most dynamic regulatory environments. The knowledge demands on in-house teams, boutique firms and larger practice groups shift regularly — driven by legislative updates, evolving client expectations and the expanding scope of legal operations as a discipline.

Praxis Hall's catalogue is built around the practical skills that underpin strong legal work regardless of the particular practice area: the ability to write clearly, to draft with precision, to manage knowledge systematically, to understand the regulatory landscape, and to communicate the value and needs of a legal function to non-legal stakeholders.

We work with organisations across financial services, technology, healthcare services and government-linked entities. Departmental cohort participants have included teams at regional holding companies, Singapore-headquartered multinationals and mid-size professional services firms seeking to build a shared learning rhythm across their legal functions.

Our courses are not certificates. They are structured learning experiences designed to change how practitioners approach specific aspects of their work. The participation record we issue on completion is a record of engagement, not a credential — and we think that honest framing matters.
